As part of my research report about SOP fertilizer producers I publish today a comparison table between sulphate of potash stocks that are developing projects in Western Australia and Eastern Africa. The different figures are intended to make it easier to compare different projects. Of course the projects are not 100% comparable, but here you get a good first impression.

In the first section, you will find the name of the company and some important data about the share. They are sorted by project location and market capitilazation. Following are the most important data about the project. The third part compares the main financial figures of the projects. Of course, it is important to note that these figures are based on different study accuracy levels and that different assumptions may have been made.

All data is based on the respective studies and presentations, which can be found on the company’s website. If possible, I have had my data checked by the company before publication. However, errors cannot be excluded! I do not take responsibility for them. You must inform yourself about the company before making any investment decisions.

Company Updates

Last Updated: 21. July 2020

Today Agrimin published it updated DFS study for their 100% owned Mackay SOP brine project.

Numbers show that it is the project with the lowest cash costs compared to other SOP brine projects. This low number allows for a EBITDA margin of 66% assuming a very realistic SOP price of just US$500/t. An annual production of 450 million tons makes it the project with the highest annual output in Australia. It is now on part with stage 1 of the Danakali Colluli project. All numbers are looking very competitive. Biggest problem is still the high capital cost of the project. With now US$415 million a serious amount of money is needed for construction.

The project numbers are looking positive. Now the management needs to prove that they are able to secure funding and off take agreements.

I will regularly publish important company news here and keep the data in the tables up-to-date.

Australian most advanced sulfate of potash (SOP) brine projects

Here you find the projects of the companies Salt Lake Potash (ASX:SO4), Kalium Lakes (ASX:KLL), and Agrimin (ASX:AMN). These projects are already well developed and close to production and/or good project data leads to a higher valuation compared to other projects.

Further sulphate of potash (SOP) brine projects

The most important figures on other projects can be found here. The projects are also almost all located in Western Australia and are usually less developed or lack important milestones. Tor this reason, the company valuations are significantly lower.

East African sulphate of potash (SOP) projects

Here you find the gigantic project Colluli from the Australian based company Danakali (ASX:DNK). In terms of reserves, it is the largest project in this comparison and already very advanced. There are some projects in the danakil region on the border between Eritrea and Ethiopia. To get a comparison regarding the project costs, the project of the private company Circum Minerals is listed as comparison. The project figures are very impressive in every aspect, also compared to Australian brine projects.
